Pine
Grove,
Calif.
– 17 year-old honor student Matt Scott just recently put the
wraps on his Rookie of the Year season in the NASCAR Whelen
All-American Series Western Late Models at All American
Speedway in Roseville, Calif.
Scott
ended the season with his third feature win of the year over a
field of 22 entrants on Saturday September 12.
It was
an outstanding season for the rookie to NASCAR racing, on the
heels of his 2008 Legends of the Pacific championship. Scott
accumulated four poles including a track-record qualifying
time, three wins, 12 top-fives, and 23 top-tens in 28 starts.
“I would
like to thank all the fellow competitors, crews, and the
officials at All American
Speedway
for a great racing season,”
Scott said. “I would also like to congratulate Jason Romero on
his championship season and Jacob Gomes on winning national
Rookie of the Year.”
His
performance earned him the third best rookie in the NASCAR
Whelen Series, along with being ninth in the state of
California,
44th in the nation, and the top 17 year-old in the entire
Whelen Series.
He also
finished fifth in the track points standings to earn Rookie of
the Year, along with fifth in the Westcar Late Model Series
standings.
“I am
looking forward to my future in motorsports, just taking it
one step at a time to get to the next level and accomplish my
goals,” Scott said. “This season was better than I could have
ever imagined.”
Matt
Scott is currently looking for sponsorship support for the
2009 All American Speedway Classic on October 9, 10, and 11,
and the Toyota All-Star Showdown Late Model 75 on January 29
and 30.
Matt and
his team are also working on plans for the 2010 racing season
and hope to have more details soon on the website.
