Second
feature win and fourth pole position for Scott
Steven

Pine Grove,
Calif.
– 17
year-old NASCAR Whelen All-American Series rookie Matt Scott
parlayed his fourth pole qualifying of the season into his
second main event win, Saturday night, at All American
Speedway in Roseville, Calif.
The event
also earned the young driver valuable points in the Westcar
Late Model Series.
Scott
out-qualified the 22 car field on hand for the Western Late
Model division at the one-third mile asphalt oval with a
qualifying time of 13.953 seconds.
A pair of
44 lap features were on tap for the night, and Scott rolled
off the grid eighth in the first race after the invert.
Scott
methodically worked his way forward to fourth by lap 19, and
the challenged Juan Pitta all the way to the finish.
The fourth
place finish allowed Scott to start second in the second 44
lap feature of the night.
Scott and
Ron Chunn traded the lead back and forth through several
restarts. Scott followed Chunn from laps 5-36 before taking
the lead.
By the time
Scott made the decisive pass, he was in the midst of heavy
lapped traffic and had veteran John Moore on his bumper.
Scott
stayed calm and collected through the final laps to win his
second career feature in Late Model racing.
“Everything
just came together tonight,” Scott said. “We went back to our
old setup and got ourselves another win.”
The feature
win gives Scott seven top-fives and 16 top-tens in 20 starts
this season. He is currently ranked sixth in the All American
Speedway track points as the leading rookie, and is tied for
fourth in the Westcar Late Model Series.
Scott is
currently ranked ninth in the NASCAR California standings and
34th nationally.
The next
event up for Scott is a twin-feature billing next Saturday at
All American Speedway.
