Another
top-ten for Matt Scott Racing on Fourth of July
Steven

Pine Grove,
Calif.
– 17 year-old Matt Scott claimed his 11th top-ten
of the 2009 season, brining home a sixth place finish in the
“Toyota/TRD 100” for the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series
Western Late Models at All American Speedway in Roseville,
Calif.
The
Independence Day 100 lap event on the one-third mile asphalt
oval featured a 19 car starting field.
Matt Scott
Racing dedicated the race to Army
Ranger Kristofer Thomas who was killed in action on Feburary
17, 2007. The #35 Chevrolet featured a graphic in his memory.
“It was a good night overall,” Scott said. “We struggled a
little bit in the afternoon practice and then it all came
together at the end. A top-ten is always good for us with the
close competition here.”
One of the nation’s top rookie drivers, Scott nearly pulled
off his fourth straight fast-time of the season. Scott came up
just .016 shy and was third quick.
After a six car invert, Scott rolled off the grid fourth.
In the shuffle of the opening laps and being pinned on the
outside groove, Scott fell to ninth.
Scott
quickly worked his way back to seventh by lap 25 before the
caution came out for the first time on lap 40.
On the
restart, he passed Zane Lovelace for the sixth position and he
ran in that position all the way through the long green flag
run to the finish.
“The car
got really tight at the end so I wasn’t able to challenge the
leaders,” Scott said. “I was using lots of brake getting into
the corners.”
Matt Scott
Racing continues to climb the NASCAR state, national, and
rookie points chases while running a nearly full schedule at
All American Speedway. Matt Scott’s finish on Saturday also
boosted him to fourth in the highly competitive Westcar Late
Model Series points.
