FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
CAREER WIN NUMBER SIX FOR MATT SCOTT AT
ROSEVILLE
ROSEVILLE,
CALIF. (MAY 24, 2010)
– 18 year-old Matt Scott of Pine Grove, Calif. continued his
brilliant start to the 2010 season at All American Speedway
Speedway in Roseville, Calif. by winning the second of a pair
of 44 lap features held on Saturday night.
Scott,
the points leader in the NASCAR Whelen All-American
Series-sanctioned Western Late Model division, is in the midst
of a heavy battle for the NASCAR California State championship
and earned his sixth career Late Model win in just 38 starts.
After
qualifying fifth fastest, Scott led much of the first 44 lap
event before being spun out and racing back through the field
to finish sixth.
The
sixth place finish placed Scott third in the second feature
lineup, after an eight car inversion.
Between
races, Scott’s crew discovered an empty master cylinder and
also a broken alternator. The team made quick repairs and
Scott came back out to challenge for the race win.
It took
Scott only 15 laps to reel in pole sitter Ron Chunn and assume
the lead.
Scott
took off from the field, consistently turning 14.1 second laps
around the one-third mile speedway and accumulating a half lap
lead over second place in track points Jonathan Mawhinney.
He
clicked off his best lap of the race on lap 18, turning a
14.097.
At the
finish, Scott enjoyed a monster 2.3 second lead with still
more in the tank in the #35 Chevrolet.
“I have
the most amazing guys in the pits,” Scott said. “We needed
this win!”
Scott
now leads the All American Speedway track points by 15 points
over Mawhinney, with the series returning to action on June
6. Scott also unofficial leads the NASCAR California State
points by two points with official points to be published on
Tuesday.
The 18
year-old
Amador
High School
senior is racing his second season in NASCAR Late Model
competition. In 38 starts over two seasons, Scott has four
fast-times, six feature wins, 19 top-fives, and 33 top-tens.
