TWIN 44 WIN FOR SCOTT EXTENDS POINTS LEAD IN TITLE
HUNT
8/18/2010
- Team press release
18
year-old Matt Scott of Pine Grove, Calif. drove to
his ninth career Late Model victory in the first
of the twin 44 lap features on Saturday night in
NASCAR-sanctioned competition at All American
Speedway in Roseville, Calif.
Scott increased his points lead to 83 points over
Bobby Grewohl and 93 points over Jonathan
Mawhinney.
The feature win marked Scott’s seventh straight
podium finish and his 42nd career
top-ten, increasing his career top-ten percentage
to 88%.
He opened up the evening by timing in second fast
on the one-third mile asphalt oval outside of
Sacramento, turning a lap of 13.949 seconds.
In the first 44 lap feature of the night, Scott
raced forward from third on the starting grid.
After making his way into second, Scott began to
reel in Grewohl.
While the race continued on caution-free, Scott
and Grewohl came into some lapped traffic. With
Scott’s car coming to his liking during the long
green flag run, Grewohl started to show a loose
condition.
On lap 38, Grewohl got loose coming out of turn
two and Scott surged to the inside. Scott won the
drag race into turn three to complete the pass and
led the final six laps to a 2.1 second win.
In the second 44 lap feature of the night, Scott
started sixth. Scott found navigating traffic in
the second race a little more difficult. This 44
lap contest also went caution-free. Scott moved
into third by lap 18 and maintained the third
position all the way to the finish.
Matt Scott Racing will return to action on August
28 as Matt Scott continues to chase points for the
All American Speedway track championship and the
NASCAR California State title.
Scott is shown fourth in the state points and 80th
in the national standings as he begins to drop his
worst races for a best of 18 program.
Late 2010 and early 2011 plans are being
formulated now for the talented Amador High School
graduate. Sponsorship and media inquiries can be
