"FAST FIVE
DRIVERS TO WATCH" ON JULY 31 WEEKEND
7/29/2010
Great racing is taking place all throughout the
country this weekend and here are five drivers
that RACELINE thinks you should keep an eye on at
a race track near you.
1. Misty Castleberry –
10 straight wins. That is all you need to know
about Marysville Raceway Park Mini Stock racer
Misty Castleberry to know why she is one to watch
this weekend. Castleberry, who also competes in
the Pro 4 Sprint Cars, will be going for 11
straight on Saturday during the track’s “Fan
Appreciation Night”.
2. Andy Forsberg -
“Mr. Excitement” Andy Forsberg is another
versatile Northern California Sprint Car driver.
Forsberg is leading the points in both the weekly
360 division at Placerville Speedway and the
California Sprint Car Civil War. Those campaigns
come together this Saturday night at
Placerville
for the “Tribute to Al Hinds.”
3. Blake Koch
– NASCAR K&N Pro Series West sophomore Blake Koch
will be competing in this Saturday night’s NASCAR
Nationwide race at Iowa Speedway. The Florida
native is heading to Iowa on the heels of a second
place finish in the West Series at TOYOTA Speedway
on July 3. Kock will drive the #05 Wade Day entry
and be forced to qualify in on time. He will be
joined by Daryl Harr, Johnny Borneman and possibly
David Mayhew – all with West Series connections.
4.
Kyle Larson
– Kyle Larson is trying to pull off an amazing
double by winning both the Ocean Sprint Car and
Golden State Challenge Series championships. The
17 year-old driver, who turns 18 on July 31, would
be the youngest champion for either series if he
can pull off the feat. What makes the run even
more unique is that the Ocean division is winged
360s where as Golden State Challenge Series is
winged 410s. Larson will compete Friday night in
the Ocean Sprints race at Ocean Speedway in
Watsonville. He won the series main event on July
16.
5. Juan Pitta
– Former Drive for Diversity member Juan Pitta has
taken All American Speedway by storm in July,
taking his new NASCAR Late Model to qualifying
efforts of fifth and third out of the gate. Pitta
looked on his way to a top-three finish in the
long green flag run last Saturday, before being
knocked out with a flat tire. Pitta should be a
major threat for the race win in Saturday night’s
TOYOTA/TRD 100 at the one-third mile speedway. |
