WHITE MAKES FOCUS DEBUT AND WINS YOUNG GUNS DASH

7/20/2010 - Team press release

USAC Western Pavement Young Guns points leader Brandon White, 13 years-old, won the trophy dash for the Young Guns division at Stockton 99 Speedway in Stockton, Calif. on Saturday night.

White, who also leads the points in the USAC NorCal Young Guns, races for Ron Sutton’s Winner’s Circle out of Sacramento, Calif.

The young driver also made his debut in the full powered USAC Ford Focus Midgets on Saturday night.  It was a busy double-header of competition on the quarter-mile asphalt oval track.

The tricky Stockton 99 layout is one of the most unique in motorsports, with drivers running a high line in turns three / four but a low line through 1 / 2.  Negotiating the race track in an 80 mile per hour Ford Focus car is a challenge that only select drivers can handle.

Brandon qualified on pole in the USAC Young Guns series. After a fourth place finish in the Young Guns heat race White rebounded to win the Trophy Dash from the pole position.

In the 25 lap USAC Young Guns main event, White ran strong to maintain his NorCal USAC Young Guns championship points lead with a solid fourth place finish.

At 13 years and 10 months old, Brandon White is the youngest currently active driver in the full USAC Ford Focus Midgets.  Knowing he would have to start in the back as a yellow flag rookie, Brandon skipped Focus qualifying.  From the back of the USAC Focus Midget heat race White drove to fifth.

Going into the USAC Focus Midget feature, the RSWC team was just looking for the talented youngster to turn some consistent laps and finish all 30 circuits.  Instead, White surprised everyone by navigating the field to an eighth place finish.  The eighth place run also preserved White’s record of a perfect ten top-tens in ten starts.

“This was a very exciting weekend for all of us at RSWC,” Team Manager Randy Chastain said.  “When we brought Brandon into our program last year we saw a lot of potential.  Brandon has exceeded our expectations and is growing into a force behind the wheel!”

Brandon White Racing and his Northcoast Lighting & Electric, Inc. mount will take a few weeks off before the next race on August 14th.  The team will return to the Orange Show Speedway in San Bernardino, Calif. where White recorded a pole in May and a win in June.
