USAC WESTERN SPRINTS INVADE STOCKTON 99 SPEEDWAY
7/15/2010
USAC Amsoil Western Sprint Car Series points
leader Tony Hunt will be looking for his 30th
series win on Saturday night, as the non-wing
asphalt warriors head to Stockton 99 Speedway in
Stockton, Calif.
The event will mark the sixth race of the 2010
campaign, with Hunt leading rookie Luis Ramos III
of Clovis, Calif. by 63 points. The series has
been dark since May 31st but many
drivers have been busy racing in Utah and also
throughout the Midwest.
Ramos comes into Stockton the heels of a solid
third place effort on July 12 with the USAC Rocky
Mountain Sprint Car Series. Ramos claimed his
first career USAC victory on May 15 at All
American Speedway in Roseville, Calif.
Audra Sasselli, Shauna Hogg, and Rohnert Park,
Calif.’s JoJo Helberg round out the top-five in
the standings. Just four markers separate Helberg
and Sasselli.
Helberg completed a busy Midwestern swing over the
past few months and in his return to California
racing will pilot the 3F for Ted Finkenbinder.
The pairing will look to improve on an 11th
place finish at Roseville in May.
Multi-time USAC Ford Focus Midget Series champion
Tim Skoglund of Fresno, Calif. will be behind the
potent #15 Harvest Supply mount at Stockton. The
Harvest Supply team earned their first ever win
earlier this season at Stockton with former series
champion Kody Swanson at the helm.
Alamo, Calif. standout Scott Pierovich will also
be in attendance on Saturday, hoping to improve on
his pole in Stockton competition in April by
nabbing the feature win.
Action on Saturday at Stockton will also include
USAC Western Midgets, USAC Ford Focus Midgets, and
USAC Young Guns. Grandstands open at 4 p.m. with
racing beginning at 6 p.m.
The series has added a new date on August 7 at
Madera Speedway to replace cancellations at Orange
Show.
