April 1, 2008:
NEW LOOK FOR
NEW SEASON!
New for 2008 Nascimento
Motorsports will not only be sporting a few new drivers but a
new color as well. Over the off season, the team sent both
Chevrolet Monte Carlos to Miracle Auto Body of Stockton, where
they were sprayed with Sherwin Williams Safety yellow paint.
Then Economy Signs of Manteca laid the beautiful black and
white decals to add the finishing touches.
This weekend the team will be
headed to Altamont Motorsports Park for the fist leg of the
Big Dog series promoted by fellow driver Tony Noceti. There
are 34 cars so far on the entry form for the Late Model race
with more adding every day. It should be a great show and the
place to be if you’re a motorsports fan and you live in the
central valley or bay area. The bright yellow 21 & 12 cars
will start the weekend off with a practice on Friday from
11-6pm, with racing on Saturday and Sunday.
“I didn’t realize how well the
color looked until we attended Altamont on April 22nd
for our first practice of the season” Eric Nascimento said,
“The car really stood out among the other yellow cars on the
track, which is what we were looking for. We were also a top
the speed charts which is our main focus.”
Over the offseason Dallas Glenn
has teamed up with Nascimento Motorsports to drive the #21 car
along side 2007 Nascimento Motorsports driver Greg Potts.
With 2 seasoned veterans behind the wheel and a ton of
experience, the team plans to march to the front quickly.
Team owner Eric Nascimento and Team manager/Crew chief Mike
Nascimento have made a lot of changes over the winter to
provide both drivers with all the tools necessary to win races
in 2008.
“The crew has worked very hard
to step our program up to that next level where we can compete
week in and week out for wins” said Mike, “Anything less will
lead to a disappointed effort.”
Greg had a very solid year in
2007, with a threat to win anytime he suited up and pulled the
straps tight he is anxious for 2008. This year should be no
different, except now he will be in his second year in the
same car that was brand new last year. From day one the car
was fast but the team endured some sway bar problems though
out the year, and with the problem solved over the off season
there should be nothing holding him back in 2008.
“After coming off several top 5
finishes in 2007, I’m really looking forward to getting the
newly painted #12 into victory lane this year. The entire
Nascimento crew are a great bunch of guys and I would love for
nothing more than a win on opening day” Greg said. “With the
addition of veteran driver Dallas Glenn joining our team for
2008 we should be able to share some really good info and
provide some good finishes. It looks like the Noceti Grupe
and Altamont Motorsports Park has been doing some great
promoting and I’m looking forward to the large car count and
great fan support.”
