March. 2007:
Plans
to field 2
cars to compete in the entire 2007 Westcar Series
Manteca, CA
--- Nascimento Motorsports has announced plans to field 2 cars
to compete in the entire 2007 Westcar Late Model series and
other select Nascar races on off weekends. Eric Nascimento a
former SWT crew member will compete for the rookie of the year
honors while Greg Potts former SWT driver will compete for the
championship.
The crew
has spent endless hours building 2 completely brand new
Victory Circle Late Models powered with Chevrolet crate
motors.
Eric will
be competing in the #21 Chevrolet and Greg in the #2
Chevrolet.
With no
prior race history on his resume, Eric spent the last month
running test sessions at nearby All American Speedway in
Roseville, CA, and Madera Speedway in Madera, Ca. Practice has
been very valuable to get Eric up to speed.
“I am just
looking to finish some races and hope to bring the car home in
one piece” Eric said. “The goal is to have both cars run
competitively and for Greg to win some races. If we can do
that and have some fun it will make for a good season.”
For any
chance to gain the Rookie of the Year honors, Eric just needs
to be consistant and get as much seat time as possible. When
Westcar is not scheduled to race, you can find Nascimento
Motorsports at Madera, Altamont, or Roseville getting the
rookie as much seat time as possible.
“I feel
very confident that we have 2 really good cars that will allow
us to be very competitive,” crew chief Mike Nasciemnto said.
“I know Eric is a rookie but with Greg’s experience and Eric’s
set up knowledge we should be able to have some fun and win
some races.”
“I am
looking forward to having the opportunity with Nascimento
Motorsports of running an entire season in one division and to
contend for a title” Greg said. “These guys work their tail
off and always put a good car under me now is my time to step
it up and win some races.”
Both teams
will be arriving in Ukiah on Friday for practice the night
before the race.
Nascimento
Motorsports will also be running limited schedules with Greg
piloting the #31 Chevrolet Monte Carlo in the SRL and Victor
Machado in a Grand American Modified.
