Rocklin, CA – 18 year-old Joe Draper will be looking for a top-ten finish,
Saturday, at Stockton 99 Speedway, as the Rocklin, CA driver makes his
Late Model debut.
At the tricky 60-year-old quarter-mile, Draper hopes to continue the
family legacy held by his father Al, who competed in Late Models
up-and-down the state for many years before slowing to focus on Joe’s
career.
Draper, who plans on competing regularly at both Stockton and in the
Westcar Late Model Series throughout the summer, will campaign a 2001
Lefthander chassis, re-skinned with a 2003 Chevrolet Monte Carlo body that
Draper got from John Moore.
Draper’s car has an Aqua body color with orange roof numbers and white
door numbers. He will run this scheme instead of his family red and black,
in respect for the late J.D. Moore.
The car very similarly resembles how J.D.’s Late Model would have looked
in weekly competition at Stockton.
The run on Saturday at Stockton will serve as a shake-down before Draper
plans on debuting in Westcar competition on July 22nd at
Lakeport Speedway.
